Annual Dinner @ Bangsar Seafood Village

Our annual dinner was held on 26.10.2007 at Bangsar Seafood Village.
There were only 5 tables with around 50 staffs, and each of us will be entitled with a gift from the lucky draw!! The only difference is whether you're getting the expensive or the cheap ones, ranging from varieties of electrical stuffs to travel voucher!!!

* The Menu*

We had a 10-course dinner, similarly to those Chinese wedding dinners that we usually have. The food is not bad, what I like the most will be the Baked Lobster with minced Garlic & Butter, Pan Fried Prawns with Homemade Sauce & Steamed Patin with Soya Sauce! The lobsters are really fresh, surprisingly it's way more better than the ones I had in Sydney Fish Market. As I always think lobster meat is very "hard", but the one I had yesterday is very "chewy", goes very well with the garlic & butter.

*Shark's fin with fresh scallops*

*Yum Yum Lobsters, the portion is a bit small*

Stir Fried scallops with asparagus*

As for the prawns, this dish will be definitely going well with white rice, especially the sauce, it's a combination of spicy, sweet & sour flavors! You'll feel that it tasted a bit salty for the first bite, but you'll be craving for more after that!

*Prawns that I like*

The Steamed Patin is very fresh, but too bad the waiter didn't help us to cut the fish, so we had to cut it our own. Kind of troublesome as I couldn't cut it nicely, poor fish which ended up looking terrible after the cutting process!

*Steamed Patin*

And we had to wait for sometimes for the serving of next dish for yesterday dinner. Basically I don't like this kind of waiting as your mood of eating will tend to drop after the waiters had changed you a new plate but the dish is yet to arrived.

Deep fried Crispy Sotong is a flop among all the dishes. It's seriously not CRISPY at all, and the sotong is like rubber band, eating it is like exercising your gum!

*Really bad fried sotong!*

*Fried Rice, not bad*

I didn't like the Stir Fried crab with salted egg yolk personally. It's too dry for me, I prefer crab dish with sauce, especially where you can dip and eat with toast bread!
And the Chinese Pancake is so so OILY!!! Not crispy and tasteless! Really disappointing!!
Fortunetely the red bean paste is the version I like, the "rough" one, it will taste even better if they added in dried mandarin skin!

*Salted Egg crabs which I don't like*

* Oily Chinese Pan cakes*

*Red bean soup which is lacking the taste of dried mandarin skin*

The most exciting part will be the Lucky Draw Time!!! Guess what, I was the Top Last 5, which means that I was so near with the Grand Prize!! Really unexpected that I could go to the last round!!! Even though I didn't get the grand prize, still grateful with what I had, the 4th prize, which is 1 night hotel stay in Renaissance. I shall be going there to celebrate my birthday next year, non-stop partying!!! Yeah!!!

Egg-In-A-Hole

Have you ever wonder what is Egg-In-A-Hole?

Saw this special but easy to make recipe from Zoe.

Something to make for a special breakfast!!!

First of all, you just need to prepare 2 slices of bread (1 slice is not enough feeding me ^_*)

Cut a hole in the middle of the bread

Heat the pan and put some butter on it under very low fire.
I Prefer to use butter as I like the taste of the butter on my bread!
Ahh, just forget those extra calories I'm gaining!! *evil grin*

Put the slice of bread into the pan, let it heat for a while then only pour in the egg.

Let it under low fire for 5-6 minutes or till the bread is a bit golden brown.
Then you only turn to another side.
Let the other side under low fire as well for few minutes or till it turns to the color you like!

Put the circle of bread that you cut into the pan to heat it as well.
So that it will become crispier and yummier!!

Ta---da-----

It's done!!!
Taste like Mc-Egg...hahaha!!! =)

Heng Wei's Birthday @ Yuzu, The Gardens

Went to Yuzu, The Gardens for dinner as an earlier birthday celebration with Heng Wei. So coincidentally that it was the actual birthday of Ian too! Hence we had 2 birthday celebrations in a roll!

Yuzu is located at the 3rd floor of The Gardens, just beside Isetan. The deco of the restaurant is all filled-up with wooden fences. The chair is also quite heavy too! Smoking area is located at the place where you're first entering the restaurant. Hence, you'll think that how come there aren't many people dining in it?! Actually most of them are sitting inside which is the Non-Smoking Area.

Since most of us feel like eating RICE for that day, so we all ordered RICE meals like: Tendon, Teriyakki Chicken Don, Sliced Mackerel Set. Overall the food is very nice and fresh, only the portion is a bit too small. Especially for those "Don Meals". The portion is actually not very big even though it comes with Miso soup and pickles.

*Chicken & TenDon*

*Sliced Mackerel Set*

As for the Sliced Mackerel Set (Rm 25) that I ordered, it's a full set which inclusive of Rice, Miso Soup, appertizers & fruits. But there're only 4-5 pieces of Mackerel fish which is quite little. But it tasted really yummy, I think it's similar to Teriyakki Mackerel. The sauce is really tasty whereby I finished all the sauce together with my bowl of rice! As for the appetizers, there're 2 types which are pickles and fish. The fish tasted a bit weird as it's a cube of cooked fish with sour flavor.

*Teriyaki Chicken Set*

Right after we finished our dinner, the waitress quickly clean up our table and bring us the small plates. We were puzzling what are they going to do as we didn't ask them to bring the cake to us that time. Are we going to have free desserts or fruits??!!

Well oh well, they acted so fast, they brought out the cake and started to sing Birthday's song! hahaha!! Even the cake didn't look nice in the pic, it tasted very nice according to the Birthday Boy. I think it's not bad too, not too sweet, just nice taste for a Tiramisu!
But Meidi-ya really has to do something with the deco of the cake, as it really looked so ugly with the piece of plastic paper with written words! Make the cake so cheapskate!!

*Tiramisu, it doesn't looks nice but tasted good!*

*Heng Wei & Ian*

*with the Watch as a birthday gift for him*

Will definitely come and visit Yuzu again as I want to eat the salmon sashimi!!! Yumpp!!!

Celebrating Kiew's Birthday @ Izzi, KL

10/10/2007 is Kiew's Birthday. I noticed that a lots of leng chais & leng luis were born on this specific day!!! =)

Even though it's a working day, most of us did turn up for the celebration as it's been a long time since the last gathering that so many of us were free to attend. It's also showed that Kiew really has great friendship with all us her friends!!! haha!!

When we arrived at around 7.30pm, the restaurant was full with people as the Malays were having their break fast. Moreover, the upper level was closed due to some sort of photo shooting going on.
We did reserve a table for 12 but 16 of us turned up in the end, so we need sometime to wait for the waitresses to re-arrange the tables. And all of us felt it was a bit hot and stuffy for the section that we were sitting, so we requested them to switch on the air-cond, but they told us the air-cond was out-of-service. Gheez, it's really annoyed us. As the lightings in the restarant was mostly those small spot lights, so you can imagine the longer you sit there, the more you'll feel the hotness!!

Since there'll be 50% off for every RM 100 spent, so we ordered different items to share among us so that everyone can try a little bit of this and that. Starters like cheese dough balls, Asian Platters, Chicken Wings, main course like Pizzas, Pasta. Didn't have the chance to try their varieties of cakes as we had a birthday cake with us. Rui Ling purposely went to Sri Hartamas to buy the chocolate cake. It's really a nice cake, soft texture which will just melt in your mouth!
