Bangkok Walkers (4)

21/03/2009 (Saturday)

This was the day where we were heading off to Chatucak Weekend Market.
Had our breakfast at the guesthouse, toast breads, fruit juice & fresh milk.

We took the train to Chatucak to avoid the traffic jam.
And then we just walked and walked and walked around Chatucak till it was lunch time!
Well, a vendor recommended us to eat at this small stall...as we really have no idea where to stop and eat that time...very blur, tired & hot!!!

My basil pork rice....I was craving for rice to eat, too hungry after so much walking!!!

Both of them ordered Pork Noodles.
Not bad, ard 30-40 baht per plate.
Right after lunch, we continue our journey in Chatucak till it was around 4pm.
Then we headed back to guesthouse to put our stuffs.
Didn't buy a lot there, just a few clothes and accessories.

On our way back to guesthouse by train, we saw there are lots of stall along the street of Victory Monument.

Just like a night market!

So we asked Huang when we were back in the guesthouse about the stalls there.
Huang told us they're mainly selling clothes for the Uni's students, so prices will be cheaper!
Mostly local people will shop around that area.
So off we went to Victory Monument for another shopping trip that night.
And we timed ourselves that we need to make a move to BIG C supermarket at 9.30pm.

Since we were around BIG C area, we went to have Chicken Rice as our supper.
I miss the pepper soup!!!

Time to go home after a day of non-stop walking!
As we'll need to wake up very early for our train trip the next day!

Bangkok Walkers (3)

20/03/2009 (Friday)

We'll be shopping around Siam Square & Siam Paragon today!

Saw this cute Doraemon van parking outside the guesthouse!

There're lots of individual shops in Siam Square, so it's really take time to browse through all of them.

We spent more than half of the day in Siam Square.
As I plan to get a piece of dinner wear there, unfortunately I didn't.
We ended up bought many pairs of shoes!
The price per pair is either 199 baht or 250 baht.
Thong is only 69 baht, but for Hippo thong is about 160 baht per pair

Since Siam Square is only opposite of Siam Paragon, we went to have our lunch @ Fuji again!

This leng lui is also eating @ Fuji!
She can really eat a lot and still maintaining so slim!!
Sigh...how I wish I can be like that too...

And there's this "Bangkok Fashion Show" on that night!
Too bad we didn't have the tic to go in!

Time to go home after that as we need to carry so many pairs of shoes in our bags!!

Bangkok Walkers (2)

19/03/2009 (Thursday)

We were supposed to go to Plantinum Mall this morning.
But the moment when we went out from the guesthouse (which was around 11am),
we saw a lot of stalls along the street which is just located outside of the guesthouse selling CLOTHES!
Furthermore, there are 2 morning markets nearby too!
And the stalls inside the markets are mainly selling CLOTHES too!!!
I realized that Thai people are so kind and honest from this shopping trip.
As they will not have charges foreigners for higher price.
Unlike the Chinatown in KL, foreigners sure kena potong by them.
After the very successful shopping trip, we went to have Chicken Rice for lunch nearby Silom Complex.

I love to eat Chicken Rice in Bangkok because it's boneless!!
And it only 30 baht per plate!

So we spent the whole morning shopping nearby the guesthouse.
Then we only proceed to Central World at around 3pm.
We took a cab there as we thought it shouldn't be very jam.
It was a wrong decision as we jammed through for 35 minutes.
Not very serious jam but it was making us so sleepy in the cab with the air-con on.

Naraya will beour First stop @ Central World.

I only bought a bag and a make-up pouch.
As I have enough of Naraya stuffs for now.

And there was a Indoor Basketball Competition in the mall.

The mall was having Thailand-Japan fair. It looks like kampung house at the back.

We settled our dinner @ FUJI.
The set dinner price is still the same as last time, but the quality of the food has dropped!
Not as tasty as last time.....it was So disappointing!

My Teriyaki Beef Set

Billy's Ramen+Gyoza Set

Luyee's Sukiyaki Set

We went to shop in ZEN and saw this cute 風鈴!

It was selling @ 299-399 baht in ZEN.B
ut the same stuffs was only selling @ 199 in Chatucak!

How can we forgot SWENSEN'S??
Mango Forever is the latest in town!
Very Very MANGO flavour ice cream + glutinous rice..weird combination but still acceptable =p

This is absolutely the CUTEST Display in the mall!

After wandering around the mall for so long, it's time to go and pray at the famous 4-face Buddha which is also nearby Central World.

Around 10pm but still so many people!!

It was time to go back for a rest after that.
And that's all for the second day!
Already bought so many clothes in the morning!!

Bangkok Walkers (1)

18/03/2009 (Wed)

It was raining heavily when we were boarding on our flight to Bangkok at 7.30am.
Arriving in Bangkok on time and we took a public cab to the Guest House.
First thing after arriving at the guesthouse was to check with them how to go to Hualamphong Train Station as we wanted to purchase the 1-day train trip to Saiyoke Waterfall.
As the train will be passing by "The Death Railway" too.
It's a very popular train trip thus it's better to get it earlier.

So this will be the Schedule for the train trip that I found in the official Thailand Railway website:

Traveling to Sai Yok Waterfall on Saturday/Sunday:

Bangkok to Nam Tok 0630 - 1130
Nam Tok to Bangkok 1440- 2000

Fare Rate: Ordinary - Adult 100 baht Children 60 baht

Travel Places:
(1)Phra Pathom Chedi
(2) River Kwai Bridge
(3) Saphan Tham Krasae
(4) Sai Yok Noi Waterfall
(5) Kanchanaburi

It's only has 4 seats left for the train trip on Sunday.
And they do not have air-con train operating anymore for this line.
So we have no choice but to get the seats on the ordinary train on 22/03/2009.
The train ticket purchasing process was quite fast and efficient and the officer in-charge was very helpful too.

Since Chinatown is just nearby the train station, thus we decided to walk over (it's about 15 mins walk) to have our lunch and to shop around the wholesale market. I think it is called as "Sampheng Market" if I'm not wrong.

The China-look phone booth @ Chinatown

Braised Goose Rice & Kuey Teow for lunch

All the while I thought it was braised duck till I check back the photos and saw this signboard!

The lunch we had was good!
Braised Goose Rice & Kuey Teow, I think it costs 40 baht each.
I do not know the exact location for this shop as we just walk around and found it.

We proceeded to Sampheng Market after lunch.
Wanted to find the shop which is selling bags that we went last time.
At last we found it!
A bag costs 160 baht if we buy for 3 pieces and above.
The quality of the bags are even better now than last time.
So I bought 3 bags since it's such a good bargain!

There're tons of fish maw that we saw at the market.

There're lots of accesorries at Sampheng Market.
But we didn't buy any of it, as it's really 花多眼亂...
Lazy to choose from it too...
But we bought another few more bags at a 3-storey shop selling all those Disney cartoon characters related products.
The bags are really cheap after discount so I bought a few as gifts for my cousins.

We went back to the guesthouse to unload our stuffs and headed to Silom complex for dinner @ Banana Leaf.
It's so pack during dinner time, around 7 pm something.
We queue for 15 minutes to get a table, luckily service was really efficient.
The food was served pretty fast once we were seated as we already ordered when we were queing up that time.

Food is fine @ Banana Leaf. Tom Yan Kung tasted good, but too bad the prawns are not fresh.

Green curry is fine too but I prefers more ingredients in it.
The gravy is really nice to go with white rice!

This is the fried veggies with sour pork salad.
It should be very nice if the veggies is served when it's hot & crispy.
However, the veggies was cold when it was served though it's still crispy, but still lack of something.
Almost every table ordered this dish, and it was very nice when I ate the same dish here last year...oh well.....

Billy is having sore throat, so she ordered this Fried Wan Tan Mee.
Surprisingly it tasted very nice!

We went to the night bazaar which is outside of Silom Complex after dinner.
Bought a few souvenirs for my friends there.
I wanted to gao dim all the souvenirs as soon as possible so that I can concentrate on shopping for my own stuffs....hahaha =p
