Bangkok Walkers (1)

18/03/2009 (Wed)

It was raining heavily when we were boarding on our flight to Bangkok at 7.30am.
Arriving in Bangkok on time and we took a public cab to the Guest House.
First thing after arriving at the guesthouse was to check with them how to go to Hualamphong Train Station as we wanted to purchase the 1-day train trip to Saiyoke Waterfall.
As the train will be passing by "The Death Railway" too.
It's a very popular train trip thus it's better to get it earlier.

So this will be the Schedule for the train trip that I found in the official Thailand Railway website:

Traveling to Sai Yok Waterfall on Saturday/Sunday:

Bangkok to Nam Tok 0630 - 1130
Nam Tok to Bangkok 1440- 2000

Fare Rate: Ordinary - Adult 100 baht Children 60 baht

Travel Places:
(1)Phra Pathom Chedi
(2) River Kwai Bridge
(3) Saphan Tham Krasae
(4) Sai Yok Noi Waterfall
(5) Kanchanaburi

It's only has 4 seats left for the train trip on Sunday.
And they do not have air-con train operating anymore for this line.
So we have no choice but to get the seats on the ordinary train on 22/03/2009.
The train ticket purchasing process was quite fast and efficient and the officer in-charge was very helpful too.

Since Chinatown is just nearby the train station, thus we decided to walk over (it's about 15 mins walk) to have our lunch and to shop around the wholesale market. I think it is called as "Sampheng Market" if I'm not wrong.

Braised Goose Rice & Kuey Teow for lunch

All the while I thought it was braised duck till I check back the photos and saw this signboard!

The lunch we had was good!
Braised Goose Rice & Kuey Teow, I think it costs 40 baht each.
I do not know the exact location for this shop as we just walk around and found it.

We proceeded to Sampheng Market after lunch.
Wanted to find the shop which is selling bags that we went last time.
At last we found it!
A bag costs 160 baht if we buy for 3 pieces and above.
The quality of the bags are even better now than last time.
So I bought 3 bags since it's such a good bargain!

There're tons of fish maw that we saw at the market.

There're lots of accesorries at Sampheng Market.
But we didn't buy any of it, as it's really 花多眼亂...
Lazy to choose from it too...
But we bought another few more bags at a 3-storey shop selling all those Disney cartoon characters related products.
The bags are really cheap after discount so I bought a few as gifts for my cousins.

We went back to the guesthouse to unload our stuffs and headed to Silom complex for dinner @ Banana Leaf.
It's so pack during dinner time, around 7 pm something.
We queue for 15 minutes to get a table, luckily service was really efficient.
The food was served pretty fast once we were seated as we already ordered when we were queing up that time.

Food is fine @ Banana Leaf. Tom Yan Kung tasted good, but too bad the prawns are not fresh.

Green curry is fine too but I prefers more ingredients in it.
The gravy is really nice to go with white rice!

This is the fried veggies with sour pork salad.
It should be very nice if the veggies is served when it's hot & crispy.
However, the veggies was cold when it was served though it's still crispy, but still lack of something.
Almost every table ordered this dish, and it was very nice when I ate the same dish here last year...oh well.....

Billy is having sore throat, so she ordered this Fried Wan Tan Mee.
Surprisingly it tasted very nice!

We went to the night bazaar which is outside of Silom Complex after dinner.
Bought a few souvenirs for my friends there.
I wanted to gao dim all the souvenirs as soon as possible so that I can concentrate on shopping for my own stuffs....hahaha =p
